OOC: Okay, it's too quiet here and I've been hankerin' to do some old Spyro RP. Since Mao Mao seems to have vanished, I thought I'd just start an RP. Since this is an Insomniac-devoted board, I guess the basic rule is that the characters should be from the Insomniac trilogy. For the time being, it would probably be best to play characters from the games themselves (maybe fan characters can come in later). Respect one another, no god modding, put OOC in front of non-RP talk or out of character talk in parentheses (), if you RP as a character you've basically claimed him or her, and have fun. I can't guarantee this will be any good because it's 5am where I am, but here goes nothing. I have no idea when this takes place in the games' timeline or if it does at all (it could be an AU for all I know); I am literally just making it up as I type. IC = in character Summer Forest, Avalar It was nice to have a quiet day to oneself, Elora decided. "Someone always needs my help," she murmured. "The Professor needs me to hold a wire just so. Hunter can't find his shoes. An Electroll lost his glasses... Yep. No one to bother me today. It's nice. And...quiet." The trees overhead said nothing. Or spoke in their indecipherable language of wind through leaves. It depended on how whimsical one felt. "Maybe too quiet..." The faun sighed and sat up in the grass. She was so accustomed to calamity in her general vicinity. Explosions, glass breaking, someone tripping. It came with territory, she supposed. That was the price to pay for having friends like hers. It had certainly seemed a bit too steep a price when a certain someone had knocked her out of her comfy hammock and spilled juice on her favorite blouse that morning. The yelling and stomping that had ensued had ensured that she would have a good, relaxing day to herself. "It's kind of...dull. By myself." Having made this discovery, Elora got up and dusted off her haunches. Now to just think of something to do... The leaves rustled. "Oh, I didn't ask you!"

Yay something to do I call dibs on the Professor as he's ma fave. First rp ive ever done so sorry in advance for any mistakes ICA laboratory in The Winter Tundra, Avalar Everything that could go wrong was going wrong for The Professor this morning. "Elora can you change that lever to.." sighing to himself he wandered over to one of the many whiring machines in his lab and flicked the switch. Elora was supposed to be helping him today but she had not appeared and so his carefully thought out plans for the day had decended into chaos as they all required two people and the Faun's absence made them impossible. Not that he was annoyed with her as Elora was normally kept busy dealing with the various creatures of Avalar's problems which he admired her for. "Typical" he muttered "why do I only have one responsible friend who I can trust to help me". This was sadly very true, Elora was the only one he could trust to not break or blow up any of the equipment. Hunter was to clumsy, Agent 9 to crazy, Spyro got bored to quickly and Bianca continued attempts to use magic to perform manual tasks was nearly always a disisaster and since she had last time turned one of his telporters into a sheep he wasnt prepared to let her "help" him again. "Perhaps she's simply forgot" he thought to himsef "yes I bet thats it she loves helping me" With that happy thought in mind The Professor activated his security robots which he had built himself to guard his lab and set his teleporter for Summer Forest. "I do hope Ive put into the right coordinates this time" Then with a bright flash he was gone.

A tall, lanky shape could be seen lurking behind the very tree Elora took shade under. Its breathing was quiet and tense; calculating the perfect moment to step in. A leaf crackled softly beneath a large paw as its pointy-eared head peered cautiously around the tree trunk, licking its lips nervously - fearful yet still wishing to approach the faun.
Hunter knew today was Elora's day off.
Hunter also knew the consequences of bothering her.
Yes, Hunter knew them very, very well. He grimaced and rubbed a hoof-shaped bruise on his backside.
But, well... desperate times called for desperate measures. Hunter gasped as she suddenly began talking to HIM, or so it appeared - surely Elora couldn't have known where he was! Then again, she always did seem to find out when he sneaked seconds at dessert. Females were scary.
"... Heeeey..." he came around into her line of vision, shoulders slightly hunched like a guilty child's. The cheetah fidgeted nervously with a battered shoe which he'd brought along, looking at everything but Elora's (surely enraged) face as the end of his tail slowly flicked back and forth, back and forth... "... I found my running shoes. Um. But, well..."
Hunter coughed and suddenly became very interested in a frayed shoelace.
"... One of them fell in the lake at Idol Springs... I would get it myself, but I'm, I'm, er. I'm a cat. I'm sensitive about that sort of thing. Anyway, didn't mean to bother you or anything, I just wanted to ask if you see Spyro or somebody water-friendly passing by, maaaybe you could mention that?" He smiled at Elora hopefully, still twiddling the shoelace between two rather stubby claws. "I tried making the idols get it back, but they just threw sausages at me till I went away."
The tawny nuisance paused in his fidgeting and glanced up at the sky, surveying the fluffy white clouds passing lazily overhead. Invisible birds trilled nearby (well, Hunter had never seen them), the sound mingling strangely with the local frogs' belching - along with the occasional tummy rumble from Hunter.
"Nice day out. Hey, got any food?"

"Eek!"
Elora jumped at the sound of Hunter's voice, then sighed with a mix of exasperation and relief. Then she saw what he had in his paws.
"Hunter, your shoes! Oh, what am I going to do with you?" She took the sodden shoe with another sigh. "As it happens, I haven't seen Spyro in a while and I don't have any food. It doesn't look like there's any hope for either of your shoes at this point. I guess you'll just have to get new ones."
Silence descended for a brief moment. Elora fidgeted, warring with her own not-so-inner frustrations. She dropped the shoe suddenly, ears lifting in delight.
"Hey, why don't we have a picnic, Hunter? It's a nice day and I was starting to go a little stir crazy by myself. Maybe we can find some more friends to join us."

OOC: This is a fun read so far, I think I'll join in No RP part of my own to post just yet, I'm just here to claim Spyro and Nestor. I think I'll have something ready to post by the end of the day, though. I'll edit this message when that time comes. EDIT: OOC: Well, I've decided that I'll only RP as Spyro, actually. It turns out that I don't really think Nestor would've stuck around much anyway, and if I had kept him at this point I'd have to make separate, consecutive RP parts. So yeah, only Spyro. And here's my part. IC: Meanwhile, in the Artisan world of the Dragon Realms... Spyro was not saving the day for once. Actually, he wasn't doing anything in particular, at all. He was just by himself on one of the many green hills of his home world, on his back, watching the clouds go by. It felt relaxing, if somewhat unusual... before, it seemed like he was always fighting villains or helping regular citizens with something or other, but now he was just... doing nothing. Quite the change in routine. "I'm bored." Clearly not a welcome one. It was just... too... normal. It probably didn't help that he was alone at that moment - even Sparx seemed to be absent, oddly enough. One cloud seemed to be mocking him by imitating the shape of a sheep. He could hear rustling grass behind him - immediately he got up and turned around, not because he felt it might be a threat, but because he was really hoping it was a sheep or just anything he could fry to kill his boredom. But it ended up being something better...

((Hooray, someone else is joining in! I've been dying for a decent Spyro RP, but all the ones I've seen consisted of one-liners and Cynder clones. It's depressing.))
Hunter's expression could have been best described as that of a mother losing her child. He reached an arm out for his shoe but quickly withdrew it again, and sighed and lowered his head in defeat.
... Sort of.
"But they're my lucky shoes - you can't just 'get new lucky shoes'. We've been through a lot together; running away from Earthshapers, going through mud... leaping out of snake pits... stepping in Cowlek pies..." here he trailed off, wistfully recalling the Good Old Days (read: last week). Ahhh, the life of an Avalarian. Avalarese. Avalarite? Avala... Avalar-dweller. Hunter could never really figure out what to call himself, not that his train of thought stayed on a subject long enough to delve into such things.
For him, the perfect life could be broken down into three activities: eating, sleeping and trumping other folks at their own games.
And forever retrieving his lucky shoes. Hunter swooped up the battered sneaker like a hungry owl, cradling it lovingly in his arms - "There there, we'll get your buddy back soon... even without Elora's help..." He gave the faun an injured look and would have turned imperiously away to find more WORTHY company, if only she hadn't mentioned a picnic.
Somewhere in his brain, a light bulb fizzled out.
The shoe fell with a soft thump.
"That sounds great! Need me to get the food toge- ... oh. Oh. Yeah. Sorry," Hunter grinned sheepishly, remembering the last time he'd been allowed to prepare a meal. It had ended in screaming, a monster made of dough and a very angry Shady Oasis hippo.
"What do you need me to do?"

The Castle courtyard was deathly silent. Considering Avalar's idyllic atmosphere, this was more than abnormal. It was as though someone or something had banished all life forms from the vicinity; you could have heard a feather drop. Odd-looking pink boxes littered the landscape, giving it a surreal appearance. Then, the sound of a spring carrying small load broke the calm. Of course, there was no one but the visitor to hear it. The creature bounced out of the shadows, smacking a box out of its way petulantly.
"THIS IS BORING!" yelled Jacques, "I've only spent three hours in this freakin' place and I'm already out of critters to play with!"
Of all the worlds he could have been exiled to, Jacques Sans-la-Boite just had to end up in a Sun-kissed romantic's paradise. They might as well have stuck him in a toy store display window. He had to find some place dark and edgy before he lost his mind, or whatever was left of it. It certainly didn't help that only one of the portals was working. The boxless jack stared at the functioning one. Sunny Beach.
"Grrrr..." Jacques' goblin-like face was a picture of rage. "STOP MOCKING ME!" he roared as he spun around, flinging a barrage of exploding boxes. In his frenzy, his normally uncanny accuracy went haywire and his projectiles fanned out rather than continuing in a concentrated stream. But one box managed to hit its target. The portal to the ever-popular seaside kingdom/vacation spot/poacher stomping ground sputtered, shorted out, and exploded.
Jacques laughed maniacally and flashed a victory gesture.
"Take that, happy beach!"

After saying sorry for what seemed the hundredth time the Dragoness finally accepted The Professor's apology and walked off.
He had feared he would get the coordinates wrong but he never expected to end up in a different land but he was very thankful it was a land he at least knew well as he had been the Artisan part of the dragon worlds many times.
"Well now what do I do?" he said annoyed with himself, and then dusting himself down The Professor stopped to try and work out how he had not rematerialized in another teleporter but on top of a very very angry dragoness.
He spent a good twenty minutes pondering this before deciding the number of portals and overall magic of the Dragon worlds had simply messed up his teleportation and now whilst in a place he was fond of he was nowhere near where he was supposed to be.
"Well I suppose I might as well find Spyro." he decided "he knows the correct portals to Avalar I'm sure."
Of that he was actually one hundred percent certain as Spyro visited Avalar as often as he could to visit his friends, especially Elora. It was popular rumor and one the Professor believed himself that the young dragon and Elora had a thing for each other and whilst Elora gave nothing away, Spyro would become nervous and try to change the subject whenever asked if his friendship with the faun was anything more.
After looking for about a hour and beginning to get slightly annoyed he finally found the purple dragon lying on one of the hills looking rather bored, he sped up his approach and saw the little dragon get up and smile as soon as he saw him.
"Spyro" he panted somewhat exhausted from the amount of walking he had just done "what a day I'm having."
And he then told the purple dragon of Elora's absence and his teleporter mishap and how he needed to get himself to Autumn plains as soon as possible all in one breath and then collapsing on the floor he looked up at Spyro and waited for the dragon's response.
